Рsychology and Culture: perspectives of contextualism

Abstract. The methodology of psychology analysis is an urgent problem, since psychology is a social technology. Psychology is becoming an increasingly effective technology for shaping the individual and communities. It is necessary to clarify the methodology for the analysis of psychology. The article analyzes the possibilities and limitations of the contextualism program. The article explores the application of contextualism in the study of psychology. Methodology of analysis: cultural concept of A.A. Pelipenko, program of social epistemology (I.T. Kasavin). Conclusions.  The methodology of contextualism is widely used to study psychological technologies. Contextualism is limited in its assessment of psychology as a social technology. These limitations are that psychology uses methods of constructing contexts.

Keywords. Psychology, culture, contextualism, context, social technologies, concept of A.A. Pelipenko, social epistemology, I.T. Kasavin, construction.
