Experience of comparing parameters of social types of modern subcultures

Abstract. The article examines the social characteristics of elite (creative), folk (traditional) and mass cultures. A comparison of their characteristics allows us to come to the conclusion that the elite in its social purpose is mainly a culture of production, the popular is mainly a culture of exchange, and the mass is mainly a culture of consumption. At the same time, now the elite culture is shrinking to a rare and exclusive culture of the intelligentsia, the people's culture is shrinking to a simulatively propagandistic culture of social marginals, and the mass culture, on the contrary, is turning into a universal everyday culture for all classes.
