Evolution of ideas about thinking

Abstract. The article examines the history of philosophical ideas about the nature of human thinking – from Antiquity to the present day. Comparing the views of many ancient philosophers, the author finally comes to the conclusion that the most adequate explanation of the phenomenon of thinking is the "theory of mental activity" of the famous philosopher G.P. Shchedrovitsky.
